Being selected for the juried Showcases at the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance has been an extremely rewarding experience for dozens of performing groups that perform in and around the Northeast Region. We hold these showcases sacred. No other programming of any kind is scheduled or permitted during our formal or informal showcases. This includes all the Private and Guerrilla Showcases. Application Procedure: This application must be accompanied by the following. Once you submit this form, a printable page will be available to print and forward with the following required items: FIVE copies of one recording (CD's strongly preferred). Please indicate directly on the packaging of the CD which three selections the committee should consider. If not marked, or a cassette tape is submitted, the committee will only listen to the first three cuts. NEWLY ADDED - In the past we have permitted Formal Showcase Applicants to wait for the results of the Formals judging before applying for a TriCentric Showcase. Our TriCentric Showcase judges have threatened mutiny if we do not change this practice - reason being it has been next to impossible for these judges to finish their Herculean judging tasks before the deadlines for advertising in our program book. They really need the ability to start listening much earlier. Therefore, if you wish to apply for a Tri-Centric if not selected for a Formal, we strongly suggest you apply for BOTH at once. If you are selected for a Formal, you can apply the application fee for the Tricentric to the additional $75 due for your formal showcase. Here is how you can apply for both at once: Fill out BOTH forms. Print them out and mail them in with six (6) copies of your CD. Include a check for $30 for Folk Alliance members and $50 for non-members. You may also pay with your credit card using paypal before printing out this form. Anyone who was selected to do a formal showcase at any of the previous five (5) Northeast Regional Conferences (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 or 2006) is NOT eligible to showcase in 2007. Additional Notes: Showcasing will take place on the evenings of Friday, November 9, and Saturday, November 10, 2007. Showcase artists are expected to register and attend the entire conference (we would think you would really want to!). Performers' preferences as to time and day will be considered only in exceptional circumstances. The entire time block for each showcase performance is 20 minutes, including set change. This means each performance can last only 15 minutes. Once selected, Showcase artists will need to fulfill the following requirements: These requirements must be met within ten (10) days of notification or this showcase slot may no longer be available. Either the group, individual artist, or regular agent must be a member(s) of the Folk Alliance; Either the group or individual artist must register in advance for the entire Northeast Regional Conference; Either the artist(s) or agent must pay the US $75 showcase fee (which includes a CD of your performance), which is in addition to the US $20/$40 application fee (see below) Showcase artists or their agents will be expected to sign a contract or release regarding their performance. I have thoroughly read and understand the rules and regulations set forth above and agree to abide by this information. The person making this application is responsible for the timely submission of all material and fees requested through the completion of the showcase, should the artist be selected. Only the person making this application may remove the artist from consideration or decline the invitation, if it is offered. This application must be made with the knowledge of the artist. As a reward for this tedious procedure, they may keep any tapes/CDs they wish. This could benefit you, considering our committee is comprised of presenters who book various folk venues in the region and/or folk DJ's who may play your CD on their shows. They will bring to the conference any promo material and/or CDs they already have or feel they do not need. You may pick them up in the registration area during the conference. Sorry, we are not able to return any material by mail. Anything not picked up before the conclusion of the conference will be donated or disposed of.
