Songwriters often feel isolated in their craft, but working as part of a community can foster human connection and deepen creativity. In this workshop, we’ll share newly-minted songs together in a mini-version of the Jack Hardy Songwriters Exchange in the hope that you’ll take the idea back home to create your own group. In the 1970s, Jack started meeting every week with a group of writers in NYC, sharing brand-new songs (and spaghetti) and offering each other constructive feedback. Years after his passing, the group that has influenced countless songwriters – including John Gorka, Suzanne Vega, and David Massengill. Jack’s Manifesto is a blueprint for songwriters of all experience levels that we’d like to share. Join facilitators Abbie Gardner and Carolann Solebello, regular members at the JHSE, and bring a new song (and one copy of the lyric sheet) to share!
