Women have been a formidable presence in every corner of folk music: singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell and Lila Downs; traditional folk artists like Odetta and Rosalie Sorrels; activist-artists like Sweet Honey in the Rock and Joan Baez; blues women like Ruthie Foster and Bonnie Raitt. This multigenerational panel will be moderated by Betsy Siggins, a founding member of Club 47, the legendary Cambridge, MA venue where several prominent musicians helped to launch the folk revival. Join this cross-section of artists and DJs as they reflect on women’s work and worth in the world of folk music.
